Instagram lets registered users upload photos or videos to the service. Users can apply various digital filters to their images, and add locations through geotags. They can add hashtags to their posts, linking the photos up to other content on Instagram featuring the same subject or overall topic. Users can connect their Instagram account to other social media profiles, enabling them to share photos to those profiles as well.

Another included features are private messaging, called Instagram Direct and “Stories”, which, let users add photos or videos to a 24-hour temporary story, with subsequent updates adding virtual stickers and augmented reality objects.

Instagram is commonly used by people for random posts like selfies, food, clothes, nature landscapes, as well as the companies for their products.

In recent years, Instagram has introduced a special algorytm that publishes the more relevant pictures on the top of feed instead of the hronological order, allowing companies to have their offers been preseted to many of Instagram users.
